My Gear

When I started learning about AP, I found it super frustrating when I couldn’t find anything on cameras, mounts, scopes, etc., that I owned or wanted to own in the combinations that I had.  Even more frustrating when I found something and it was not in English, heh.   I figured, if nothing else, posting my setup, how I got it working, problems I ran into, and results might help a few people with similar setups.  In this section, Ill go over my gear, both that I own now and as I get new gear.   So here we go!

Ioptron CEM25P

Here is essentially the most important piece of equipment for any set up. Your GOTO mount. It is important because if you have an undersized mount, and your payload capacity is too high, then you will have issues tracking your target for longer exposure AP. Whether this is the best mount that is out there, I don’t know but I have really enjoyed it. First off, it has an extremely quiet motor. I have a larger mount that is pretty loud. This one you can hardly hear. Also it is extremely portable and lightweight while having a payload capacity of 27lbs. I can easily carry this setup in and out of the house with no issues. Other items; It includes an illuminating polar scope (although I use a pole master), GotoNova Technology, and built in GPS. There really isn’t anything I dont like about this mount other than I had to find my home position manually and mark lines on the housing where that was so I if I have balance my scope or something, I can find the correct home position. I would definitely recommend this mount to anyone looking to do some imaging with a small refractor.
